Storing Your Swimwear For The Winter...
It's sad but true. We are just a few days from the official start of fall. That means, for many of us in the US, that it is time to ready our swimwear for storage until spring. So, to help most of us out, here are a few tips to give our swimwear the best chance of storage survival.
Cleaning it thoroughly is the single best action you can take to preserve the beauty and longevity of the life of your favorite swimsuit. Chlorine is very destructive to fabric and elastic/ As much as possible should be removed after each use and before long term storage. Thorough rinsing with cool, clear water may be enough to remove the chlorine trapped in your bikini, but you may need to use a mild detergent, like Woolite, to remove everything trapped in the fabric, such as chlorine, oils, lotions, and salt.
The next crucial step is to thoroughly air dry your swimwear before storage. The retention of moisture can cause mildew to grow, resulting in odors and stains. No one wants that!
Finally, store your swimsuits loosely in a cool, dry place.
These steps will help preserve the beauty of your beachwear until you get the chance to wear them again. None of us want to have to purchase new swimsuits every year because they didn't survive the winter storage. Now, if you like to buy new swimwear every year, that's okay, too. ;)
