Dealing With Burnout...

Posted by Marsha on

Sometimes I experience burnout.  It happens to everyone.  I get tired of writing, selling tan through swimwear, or whatever.  Unfortunately, every time this happens, I  cannot hit the beach in some Caribbean paradise to alleviate the stress.  Instead, I opt for the classic teenage standby--video games!  It sounds adolescent and immature, but it works.

Playing helps me to forget my troubles and responsibilities by letting me be someone else for a few hours or days (depending on the level of burnout).  I can choose who I want to be--good, bad, tough, heroic, whatever.  I tend to have a pretty sensitive conscience so I have a hard time being a bad guy.  My husband finds this funny since it's make-believe.

The RPGs are my favorite.  I prefer ones like Skyrim, Oblivion, or Fallout.  The first two let me even choose what I look like and what attributes I have.  Cool, huh?  Talk about total escape!  Many of us dream of being bold adventurers in foreign lands, but don't think we have what it takes.  Maybe playing one in a game would nudge us into being more courageous.

If someone would make a game that is set in a tropical climate with a beach house and pounding surf, it would be perfect.  Most game are set in unpleasant climates like a cold wasteland or desert.  It would be cool to be able to fight the bad guys in a cute string bikini or strappy one piece.  The male characters could wear racers or board shorts and have ripped abs and bulging thighs.  The girls could have an hourglass figure with a great tan and beautiful, flowing curls.

How do you like to escape?  I prefer the beach, but I have to take what I can get and do what I have to do to make life work.  I like games.  Many of you I expect like to read stories about exciting people and places.  Both are similar since it takes us away, just like Calgon, right?  Some crazy people choose to run or do yoga to escape their lives for a while.  Whatever works for you, do it!  We want to stay healthy!

See you all next time!

Escape the Impending Cold Weather!

Summer is effectively over for most of us.  The kids are back in school, the summertime hangouts are being abandoned, and all the stores are reflecting the coming colder weather.  The jackets and coats on the racks make all of us think of snow and freezing weather, right?  Frankly, fall always makes me feel sad. [...]

The Sun

The solar eclipse yesterday made me realize a very important thing--how much we need the sun.  We take for granted the light and warmth that it provides to stay alive on this blue ball. Yes, I know that none of us would be here if we had no sun, but let's ignore that technicality to point [...]

What Swimsuit Style Do You Wear Now?

Swimsuit styles come and go from our closets.  Our tastes change.  Our modesty levels change.  What we used to wear, we can no longer wear or we no longer want to wear for whatever reasons.  Either we think we are too fat, too old, too out of shape, or too cool for that old swimsuit [...]

Avoiding Weird Tan Lines...

Like tan lines?  Me neither!  Sometimes I like to go to other swimwear retailers' websites to see what is trending this year in conventional swimwear.  One trend that seems to stand out lately is strappy tops, strappy bottoms, strappy one pieces, strappy everything!  I suppose the swimsuits look neat and all, but what do you [...]

Swimmers, Listen Up!

Love to swim?  Many of us do, but the right swimsuit isn't always the one that we have in our drawer.  To have a worry-free swim, we need to have a swimsuit that is snug, yet nonrestrictive to allow free movement.  It also needs to have parts that stay put so that there is no [...]
